### 161 Financial assistance > > (1)  A person may apply to the Minister for financial assistance in carrying out any investigation and research under this Part. > > > (2)  An application is to – > > > > > > (a) be in writing; and > > > > > > > (b) contain any details the Minister requires; and > > > > > > > (c) be lodged with the Director. > > > (3)  The Minister may – > > > > > > (a) grant the application, subject to any condition the Minister considers appropriate; or > > > > > > > (b) refuse to grant the application. > > > (4)  The Minister, by notice in writing, must notify the applicant of – > > > > > > (a) the grant of an application; or > > > > > > > (b) the refusal to grant the application and the reasons for the refusal.
