### 11 Application for exploration licence
> > (1) A person may apply to the Minister for an exploration licence.
>
> > (2) An application is to –

> > > > (d) be accompanied by the prescribed fee; and

> > (3) The Registrar or Director or both may require an applicant to provide further information.

> > > > (a) the application is in relation to a mineral, or a category of minerals, to which that special exploration licence relates; and
> > >
> > > > (b) the area of land does not exceed the area of land specified in [section 21(1)](#GS21@Gs1@EN) in respect of the mineral or the category of minerals.

> > (5) [*\[Section 11 Subsection (5) amended by No. 74 of 2001, s. 6, Applied:30 Oct 2001\]*](/view/html/inforce/2001-10-30/act-2001-074#GS6@Hpb@EN) [*\[Section 11 Subsection (5) substituted by No. 24 of 2013, s. 8, Applied:28 Jun 2013\]*](/view/html/inforce/2013-06-28/act-2013-024#GS8@Hpe@EN) If a relevant licence, within the meaning of [section 161E(1)](#GS161E@Gs1@EN) , ceases to be in force in relation to an area of land, a person may not, until a date specified by the Director, in accordance with [section 161E(2)(c)](#GS161E@Gs2@Hpc@EN) , in a notice under [section 161E(2)](#GS161E@Gs2@EN) in relation to the licence, apply for a licence that is to relate to both –

> > > > (a) all or part of the area of land that is specified in the notice; and
> > >
> > > > (b) a mineral, or the category of minerals, specified in the notice.
