6 Kinds of service to which this Act applies (a) warlike service means service with the Defence Force that is of a kind determined in writing by the Defence Minister to be warlike service for the purposes of this Act; and (b) non‑warlike service means service with the Defence Force that is of a kind determined in writing by the Defence Minister to be non‑warlike service for the purposes of this Act; and (c) peacetime service means any other service with the Defence Force; and (d) defence service means warlike service, non‑warlike service or peacetime service. (2) For the purposes of subsection (1), service with the Defence Force means: (a) for a cadet—participation in the activities of the Australian Defence Force cadets; and (b) for a declared member—engagement in, or performance of, activities or acts specified in the determination under section 8 that applies to the member.
