Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is a short, administrative cleanup regulation made in December 1989 under the Migration Act 1958. It simply cancels (repeals) 27 older sets of Migration Regulations that had accumulated between 1959 and 1989.\n\nWhat it does:\n- Removes outdated statutory rules (regulations) from the books\n- Does not create any new immigration rules or visa requirements\n- Consolidates or tidies up the migration law framework by removing old versions\n\nWho it affects:\n- Primarily affects the government and lawyers who need to know which regulations are currently in force\n- Ordinary visa applicants and migrants would not notice this change directly, as current regulations at the time would have replaced these older ones anyway\n\nWhy it matters:\n- Keeps the statute book clean by removing obsolete rules\n- Prevents confusion about which regulations still apply
