This instrument defines which occupations qualify for the Business Long Stay Visa, affecting employers who sponsor skilled overseas workers and applicants seeking temporary skilled entry. Schedule C lists specific IT roles (managers, systems and software designers, programmers, auditors and related computing professionals).
Schedule D broadly covers ASCO Major Groups 1–7 (managers, professionals, trades and advanced clerical work) but excludes apprentices/trainees/assistants, "nec" trade/labour roles, positions limited to citizens/permanent residents, religious workers, and tour guides.

ALL OCCUPATIONS in Major Groups 1 to 7 of the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations Dictionary (“ASCO Second Edition Dictionary”), except Apprentice tradespersons and related workers, assistant and trainee positions; occupations that are “not elsewhere classified” in ASCO Major Groups 5, 6 or 7; occupations that, for legislative reasons, can only be filled by an Australian citizen or permanent resident; occupations of religious workers for which there are separate specialised temporary entry visa subclasses, and tour guides.
