This document tells Working Holiday Visa holders exactly which parts of Australia count as "regional Australia" for visa extension purposes.
If you hold a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417), you can apply for a second year if you complete 3 months of specified "seasonal work" in regional Australia. This instrument sets out the postcode boundaries that define where that work must be located.
What the table means:
- New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria & Western Australia: Only the specific postcodes listed (or within the ranges shown) count as regional
- Northern Territory, South Australia & Tasmania: The entire state/territory qualifies as regional
- Australian Capital Territory: Not listed (implied exclusion from regional classification for these purposes)
Practical use: You must check your employer's business postcode against this list to confirm your fruit picking, farm work, or other seasonal labour will count toward the 3-month requirement for a visa extension.
