Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This document updates the list of government-backed investments that count towards certain Australian visa requirements (typically for business or investor visas).

What it does: It replaces any previous lists with a current list of 5 approved government financing authorities where visa applicants can invest their money to meet visa conditions.

The approved investment options are:

New South Wales Treasury Corporation
Western Australia Treasury Corporation
Queensland Treasury Corporation
South Australian Government Financing Authority
Northern Territory Treasury Corporation

Who it affects: People applying for visas that require holding "designated securities" (a specific type of government bond). If your visa requires you to invest in state or territory government debt, you must choose from this specific list.

Why it matters: Money invested in securities not listed here won't satisfy your visa requirements. This ensures investor visa funds flow only to these approved state and territory government borrowing authorities.
