Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
What this does This instrument updates the official list of countries whose business travelers qualify for streamlined visa arrangements under the APEC Business Travel Card scheme. It cancels the previous list (from September 2001) and replaces it with a new schedule of 12 economies.
Who it affects Business travelers from: Brunei, Chile, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Peru, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand. If your country appears on this list, you may be eligible for the APEC Business Travel Card, which provides expedited visa processing and faster immigration clearance when traveling to Australia for business.
Why it matters This designation acts as the "gatekeeper" for the APEC Business Travel Card program. Only citizens of economies specifically named in this notice can access the special visa privileges designed to facilitate business movement across the Asia-Pacific region.
