Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument lets the Department of Home Affairs add a credit‑card surcharge — an extra fee to cover bank processing costs — to certain immigration payments. It affects anyone paying by card for visa-related services (employers sponsoring or nominating workers, visa applicants, and former visa holders seeking proof of past status). It covers core sponsor/nomination, visa application/evidence and pre‑application charges, preserving the government’s ability to pass on merchant fees.
