Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
This instrument sets the minimum number of refugee and humanitarian visas Australia must grant over four financial years from 2015 to 2019. Under the Migration Act, the Minister must take "all reasonably practicable measures" to ensure at least these numbers are granted:
These visas cover two categories: Protection (Class XA) for refugees fleeing persecution, and Refugee and Humanitarian (Class XB) for other displaced people in need of resettlement. The document effectively sets Australia's humanitarian program intake floor for those years, creating a legal obligation to meet these targets.
