131 Notifying people about the affected person register (1) The director-general must take reasonable steps to notify affected people in relation to forensic patients about the affected person register. (2) The notice must set out— (a) the rights of a registered affected person under section 134; and (b) the requirement for an affected person to sign an undertaking not to publish the information received under section 134 if the person wants to be registered as an affected person.

(3) The notice may seek the consent of the affected person to include the person’s information on the register if the director-general considers that it is necessary for the person’s safety and wellbeing. Note A person who is the victim of a crime may also be entitled to information and assistance under the Children and Young People Act 2008, the Crimes (Sentence Administration) Act 2005, and the Victims of Crime Act 1994.
