#### 30 Assessable persons may be reclassified as voluntary patients 30 Assessable persons may be reclassified as voluntary patients (cf 1990 Act, s 54) > An authorised medical officer may classify an assessable person as a voluntary patient at any time before a mental health inquiry is held about the person, but only if— > > > (a) the authorised medical officer is of the opinion that the person is likely to benefit from care or treatment as a voluntary patient, and > > > (b) the patient agrees to be so classified or, if the person is a person under guardianship or is under the age of 14 years, the person is admitted in accordance with the procedures under this Act applicable to admitting any such person as a voluntary patient.
