#### 10 Simplified outline of this Part Parliamentarians and office‑holders can employ people to assist them to carry out their duties. Parliamentarians and office‑holders can suspend and terminate the employment of their employees, and in certain circumstances the termination of employment is automatic. Parliamentarians and office‑holders have obligations to inform and consult the PWSS in relation to decisions to suspend or terminate employment. Parliamentarians and office‑holders are also required to take certain employment actions in relation to their employees, including termination of employment, on the recommendation of a Commissioner of the IPSC. In certain circumstances, the CEO of the PWSS can suspend employees and, where a parliamentarian or office‑holder dies or ceases to be a parliamentarian, can step in to exercise most of the powers of an employer. The power to employ, and the terms and conditions of employment, may be affected by arrangements and determinations made by the Prime Minister under this Part.
