531 Storage of controlled medicines by wholesalers licence-holders—Act, s 61 (b) and (c) (1) A wholesalers licence-holder must store a controlled medicine in the person’s possession (other than a controlled medicine required for immediate supply) in a vault that— (a) complies with, or is more secure than a vault that complies with, the requirements for a vault in schedule 5, section 5.8 (Requirements for vaults); and (b) is fitted with an alarm system. (2) However, if the chief health officer is satisfied that the total amount of controlled medicine held by the licence-holder at any time is not large enough to need to be stored in a vault, the chief health officer may approve, in writing, the storage of the controlled medicine in a safe or strong room. (3) If the chief health officer gives an approval under subsection (2)— (a) if the approval is for a safe—the safe must comply with, or be more secure than a safe that complies with, the requirements for a safe in schedule 5, section 5.6 (Requirements for safes); and
(b) if the approval is for a strong room—the strong room must comply with, or be more secure than a strong room that complies with, the requirements for a strong room in schedule 5, section 5.7 (Requirements for strong rooms); and (c) the safe or strong room must be fitted with an alarm system.
