142 Taking disciplinary action against authorisation holders (1) If the chief health officer is satisfied that a ground for disciplinary action exists, or may exist, in relation to an authorisation holder, the chief health officer may give the authorisation holder a notice (a disciplinary notice). (2) The disciplinary notice must— (a) state the ground for disciplinary action; and (b) tell the authorisation holder that they may, not later than 3 weeks after the day the authorisation holder is given the notice, give a written response to the chief health officer about the notice. (3) If, after considering any response given not later than the end of the 3-week period, the chief health officer is satisfied that a ground for disciplinary action exists in relation to the authorisation holder, the chief health officer may take disciplinary action against the authorisation holder. (4) To remove any doubt, the disciplinary action may consist of 2 or more of the actions mentioned in section 141. (5) The disciplinary action takes effect when the authorisation holder receives written notice of the action or, if the notice states a later time of effect, at the stated time.
