27 Who is an eligible medical practitioner for a premium period?
(1) A medical practitioner is an eligible medical practitioner for a premium period if: (a) there is a contract of insurance between the practitioner and a medical indemnity insurer providing professional indemnity cover for the practitioner in relation to the period; and (b) one of the following applies: (i) for the whole period the practitioner is a procedural general practitioner practising in a rural area (see Subdivision B); (ii) the practitioner has substantial insurance costs for the period (see Subdivision C); (iii) the period ends before 1 July 2021 and the practitioner would have been a member with a MISS entitlement for the period under the old scheme if it had not ceased to be in force. (2) This section is subject to sections 28, 29 and 30 (which provide for medical practitioners not to be eligible medical practitioners for certain periods in certain circumstances).
