33Identity cards

#### 33 Identity cards (1) The Secretary may cause to be issued to an authorized officer an identity card in a form approved by the Secretary by writing signed by the Secretary. (2) Where a person in possession of an identity card issued to the person under subsection (1) ceases to be an authorized officer, the person shall forthwith return the identity card to the Secretary or a person nominated by the Secretary by writing signed by the Secretary and, if the person fails to do so, the person is guilty of an offence punishable on conviction by a fine not exceeding $100. (2A) An offence under subsection (2) is an offence of strict liability. > Note: For strict liability, see section 6.1 of the Criminal Code. (3) Where a person is an authorized officer under this Act and the Export Control Act 1982, an identity card issued to the person under subsection 21(1) of the last‑mentioned Act has effect, for the purposes of this Act (other than subsection (2) of this section), as if it were an identity card issued to the person under subsection (1) of this section.
