Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act cancels the old Meat Export Charge legislation from 1935 and 1954. It stops the government from collecting a specific charge on meat exported from Australia.

What it means:

Repeal: The previous laws that charged fees on exported meat are abolished.
Grandfathering protection: If you exported meat before this Act started, the old rules (and any regulations) still apply to you. This ensures you don't face unexpected new charges for past transactions.
Connection to new system: The Act starts on the same date as the Live-stock Slaughter Levy Act 1964, indicating it was part of switching from export charges to slaughter levies for funding industry services.
