Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation reduces the levy (a mandatory fee) that meat chicken producers pay to fund exotic animal disease preparedness programs.

What it does:

Cuts the prescribed levy rate from 0.02 cent to 0.016 cent per unit (likely per chicken or kilogram of meat)
The reduction was recommended by industry representatives (National Farmers' Federation) through the Exotic Animal Disease Preparedness Consultative Council

Who it affects:

Commercial meat chicken farmers and producers in Australia who pay levies under the Meat Chicken Levy Act 1969

Why it matters:

It slightly lowers production costs for poultry farmers while maintaining the disease preparedness fund. This is a routine technical adjustment to reflect current industry circumstances rather than a policy change.
