#### 18 Provisions applicable to inquiries by Judge or magistrate (1) In conducting an inquiry under this Part, a Judge or a magistrate: (a) is not bound by the rules of evidence; and (b) shall give to the applicant and, so far as is reasonably practicable, any person whose consent to the marriage of the applicant is required by this Act, an opportunity of being heard. (2) An inquiry by a Judge or a magistrate under this Part shall be held in private. (3) An applicant or other person who is given an opportunity of being heard at an inquiry under this Part may be represented by a barrister or solicitor.
