52Boarding vessels, installations and aircraft

#### 52 Boarding vessels, installations and aircraft (1) A maritime officer may board a vessel, installation or aircraft. (2) If the person in charge of the vessel, installation or aircraft requests the officer to produce identification, the officer must produce: (a) the officer’s identity card; or (b) other written evidence of the fact that the officer is a Commonwealth officer. (3) If the officer fails to produce the identity card or other written evidence, the officer must: (a) leave the vessel, installation or aircraft; and (b) not re‑board the vessel, installation or aircraft without producing the identity card or other written evidence. (4) Subsections (2) and (3) do not apply if the officer is one of the following in uniform: (a) a member of the Australian Defence Force; (b) an officer of Customs (within the meaning of the Customs Act 1901); (c) a member or special member of the Australian Federal Police; (d) an officer prescribed by the regulations.
