298 Summary jurisdiction in indictable offences The provisions of Part 3.1 of Chapter 3 of the **Criminal Procedure Act 2009** enabling the hearing of charges for certain indictable offences in a summary way has effect with respect to indictable offences under this Act subject to the following provisions— (a) any consent required by those provisions to be given by the person charged may, in the absence of that person, be given on that person's behalf by the owner, charterer, manager or operator or the agent of the vessel in respect of which the offence is alleged to have occurred; (b) if the person charged is for the time being out of the jurisdiction, service of any documents relating to the offence is sufficiently served on that person by being served on the agent (if any) of the owner, charterer, manager or operator of the vessel in respect of which the offence is alleged to have occurred.
