162C Police may direct someone to provide certain information concerning owner or master of a vessel S. 162C(1) amended by No. 37/2014 s. 10(Sch. item 107.9(a)). (1) A police officer may direct a person whom the police officer believes on reasonable grounds has information concerning the identity or location of the owner or master of a vessel to provide all the information the person has regarding the identity or location of the owner or master of the vessel. (2) A person must not refuse or fail to comply with a direction under subsection (1). Penalty: 5 penalty units. S. 162C(3) amended by No. 37/2014 s. 10(Sch. item 107.9(b)). (3) It is not an offence for a person to fail to comply with subsection (2) if the police officer did not inform the person, at the time the direction was given, that it is an offence to fail to comply with the direction.
