53 Functions of authorised officers An authorised officer has the following functions: (a) to investigate discharges prohibited by this Act; (b) to monitor compliance with this Act; (c) to monitor transfer operations; (d) to examine ships using coastal waters, so as to minimise discharges; (e) to take action to remove a pollutant discharged into coastal waters or mitigate its effect on the Territory's marine and coastal environment.
