104Dangerous goods

104 Dangerous goods (1) The owner or the master of a vessel may: (a) refuse to take on board any package which he or she suspects may contain dangerous goods; and (b) open and inspect any package which he or she suspects may contain dangerous goods; and Marine Act 1981 14 (c) discharge, destroy, render innocuous or otherwise deal with any goods which: (i) in the owner's or the master's opinion are dangerous goods; and (ii) have been shipped on board the vessel without the owner's or the master's knowledge. (2) The owner or the master of a vessel is not under any liability, civil or criminal, in respect of an action taken under subsection (1).
