Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
This instrument sets 2008/09 catch limits for the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery and applies to all fishing concession holders or their agents. It caps Patagonian toothfish at 390 t in the Aurora Trough and 150 t in the Macquarie Ridge (rising to 198 t if a 3‑day, 10 t/km² catch rate trigger is met; the area closes if 150 t is exceeded before that).
It also limits bycatch to 200 t total and no more than 50 t of any single non‑target species to protect stocks and marine wildlife.
