Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
What this does This law requires commercial fishers in the Western Skipjack Tuna Fishery to keep a daily written record (logbook) of their fishing operations.
Who it affects Anyone holding a fishing permit (called a "concession") for this specific tuna fishery.
The requirement Fishers must fill out a form called the "Purse Seine Daily Fishing Log PS01A" every day they go fishing. They must record their activities according to the instructions in that logbook. The exact layout and questions are set out in a government publication (Commonwealth Gazette) from June 2011.
Time period These rules took effect the day after the law was registered and automatically expired on 31 December 2015. After that date, fishers could no longer use this particular logbook.
