7 Delayed election
(1) If, in the Minister’s opinion, it would be impractical or inconvenient to hold a general election as required by section 6, the Minister may, by order published in the Gazette, appoint a later day by which a general election must be held.
(2) If a later day is appointed, the retiring elected members continue in office until the result of the election held on that day is determined, and if an elected member resigns in the meantime, the office is vacant until the result is determined.
