### 122 Reporting of offences and arrest of offenders
> > (1) In this section, ***authorized officer*** means an officer of the Transport Commission who is authorized, in writing, by the Commission to perform the duties referred to in [subsection (2)](#GS122@Gs2@EN) .

> > (2) *\[Section 122 Subsection (2) amended by No. 30 of 1995, s. 3 and Sched. 1 \]*A police officer or an authorized officer who finds a person committing an offence under this Act in a municipality shall demand from that person his name and the address of his place of residence and shall, as soon as practicable, report the offence to the council clerk with such particulars for the identification of the person by whom the offence was committed as the police officer or authorized officer may have.

> > (3) *\[Section 122 Subsection (3) amended by No. 43 of 1991, s. 5 and Sched. 1 \]*A person who fails or refuses to comply with a demand made of him under [subsection (2)](#GS122@Gs2@EN) or, in response to such a demand, gives a name or address that is false is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding 5 penalty units.
