### 149 Powers of scientific observer > > (1)  A scientific observer, having regard to the fishing operations of the fishing vessel, may at all reasonable times – > > > > > > (a) have access to the apparatus and the storage and processing facilities on the vessel; and > > > > > > > (b) have access to the catch on the vessel; and > > > > > > > (c) have access to the bridge and navigation and communications equipment of the vessel; and > > > > > > > (d) have access to any logs and records of the vessel; and > > > > > > > (e) receive and transmit messages and communicate with the shore and other vessels. > > > (2)  A master of a fishing vessel must not hinder, delay, obstruct, impede or interfere with a scientific observer exercising any power under [subsection (1)](#GS149@Gs1@EN) . > > > > Penalty:  Fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
