Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This law fixes a technical glitch from 1978 by validating pay determinations the Remuneration Tribunal made for Northern Territory MLAs and declaring those salary payments never triggered the disqualification rule in the Self‑Government Act. Operating retrospectively, it protects members who accepted those payments from being treated as having vacated their seats during the transition to self‑government.
