Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is a short administrative order that coordinates the expiry dates of two safety regulations about explosives.

What it does It changes the automatic expiry dates ("sunsetting") of:

the Explosives Areas Regulations 2003 (about storage facilities), and
the Explosives Transport Regulations 2002 (about moving explosives).

Both will now expire on 1 October 2024, instead of at different times.

Why this matters Aligning the expiry dates allows the government to review both sets of rules together. This ensures consistent safety standards for how explosives are stored and transported, rather than updating one set of rules years apart from the other.

Sunsetting explained "Sunsetting" means laws automatically expire after a set date unless they are actively reviewed and renewed. This declaration simply synchronises that countdown for these two specific regulations.
