Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
What this does: This certificate temporarily extends the life of a 1993 notice about seafarers' rehabilitation and compensation rights.
Background: Under Australian law, most legislative instruments automatically expire ("sunset") after 10 years unless someone actively saves them. The Seafarers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1992 ‑ Notice of Declarations and Specifications was due to automatically expire on 1 April 2019.
What changes: This certificate pushes that expiry date back to 1 April 2021.
Who it affects: Employers and seafarers covered by the Seafarers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1992, as it keeps the related notice valid for an extra two years.
Special feature: This certificate has a built-in self-destruct button—it automatically repeals itself on 2 April 2021, the day after the extended expiry takes effect.
