Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

These regulations set the extra pay allowances for Australia's Solicitor-General (the government's senior lawyer after the Attorney-General). Key points:

What it does: The rules state that the Solicitor-General receives the same non-salary allowances—such as travel and accommodation expenses—as a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia. This does not include the annual salary.
Who it affects: Primarily the Solicitor-General and government pay administrators.
Why it matters: It ensures the second-highest law officer in the Commonwealth receives equivalent benefits to a senior federal judge for work-related expenses.
Current status: These regulations were made in 1988 and repealed in 2004, so they are no longer in force.
