Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This document is a formal commencement proclamation — essentially an official "start date" announcement made by the Governor-General. It declares that Schedule 2 of the Law Enforcement Integrity Legislation Amendment Act 2012 will take effect on 15 February 2013.

In practical terms, this means that specific changes to Australia's law enforcement integrity framework (contained in Schedule 2 of the 2012 Act) became active law on that date. These changes likely affected the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (the body that investigates corruption in federal police and law enforcement agencies), but the proclamation itself does not specify the content of those changes — it only sets when they begin.

The instrument was signed on 14 February 2013, coming into effect the following day.
