#### 52 Preliminary investigation 52 Preliminary investigation > > (1) An investigation power the Commission decides to exercise under section 51 may be in the nature of a preliminary investigation. > > > (2) A preliminary investigation can be conducted, for example, for the purpose of— > > > > > (a) assisting the Commission to discover or identify conduct that might be made the subject of a more complete investigation, or > > > > > (b) assisting the Commission to decide whether to make particular conduct the subject of a more complete investigation, or > > > > > (c) assisting the Commission in making a decision under section 61 with respect to the holding of an examination with respect to conduct that is (or could be) serious misconduct.
