62Prepayments

62 Prepayments (1) Upon the service on a person of an offer of compensation under section 50(1)(a), unless an amount of compensation for the person's interest has been paid into the Tribunal under section 51(a), there shall be payable to that person out of moneys appropriated for the purpose an amount of money equal to 90% of the amount of compensation offered. (2) If the amount of money paid under subsection (1) exceeds the amount of compensation determined under this Act for the acquisition of the interest of the person to whom the money was paid, that person shall be liable to pay to the Territory as a debt due, an amount of money equal to the difference between the amount paid to him under subsection (1) and the amount of compensation determined under this Act in respect of his interest.
