### 23 Powers of single justice

>
> > > (a) receive a complaint and issue a summons or warrant thereon;

> > > (b) [*\[Section 23 Amended by No. 25 of 2021, s. 5, Applied:29 Nov 2021\]*](/view/html/inforce/2021-11-29/act-2021-025#GS5@EN) issue his summons to compel the attendance of witnesses in relation to the matter of a complaint or the matter to which an application under [Part XA](#HPXA@EN) of this Act, or [Part 3](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-2004-067#HP3@EN) or [4](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-2004-067#HP4@EN) of the [Family Violence Act 2004](/view/html/inforce/2026-04-12/act-2004-067) , relates;

> > > (c) do all other necessary acts and matters preliminary to the hearing of a complaint or matter notwithstanding that it must be heard and determined by a magistrate or 2 or more justices;
> >
> > > (d) after the determination of a complaint or matter, whether or not he determined it or took part in its determination, issue a warrant of execution or commitment thereon; and
> >
