30 Power to enter land to investigate cause of fire
(1) The Minister may enter and inspect any land for the purposes of investigating the cause or origin of a fire that has occurred on the land or adjacent land.
Note: The Minister may delegate his or her power under this section—see section 7.
(2) However, if the Minister enters and inspects the land more than 24 hours after the fire has been put out, the Minister must hold a search warrant, issued under section 31, authorising the entry. (3) The Minister may enter and inspect the land whether or not the owner or occupier of the land has given his or her consent to the entry and inspection. (4) However, if the Minister enters any part of land used only for residential purposes, the Minister must: (a) hold a search warrant, issued under section 31, authorising the entry; or (b) obtain the consent of the owner or occupier of the land.
