Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act is a simple money bill from 1943 that puts cash in the bank to pay pensioners. It authorises the government to withdraw £23 million from Australia's general government account (the Consolidated Revenue Fund) and deposit it into a special trust account called the Invalid and Old-age Pensions Fund.

What it pays for:

Invalid pensions — financial support for people unable to work due to disability or illness (similar to today's Disability Support Pension)
Old-age pensions — income support for elderly Australians (the precursor to today's Age Pension)

Important note: This law doesn't change who qualifies for pensions or how much they receive. It simply provides the money to pay existing pension obligations. Think of it as Parliament approving the cheque to fund the pension budget for that year.
