Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act authorises the government to spend £12 million on disability and age pensions.

What it does:

Sets aside money: It legally appropriates (reserves) £12 million from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (Australia’s main government bank account) and places it into a special trust account called the Invalid and Old-age Pensions Fund.
Funds pensions: This money is specifically allocated to pay pensions to:
- Invalid pensioners: People unable to work due to disability (now known as disability support pensioners)
- Old-age pensioners: Elderly Australians who meet the age requirements

Why it matters: This is a "supply Act" — a routine but essential piece of legislation that gives the government the legal power to spend taxpayer money on social security. Without this specific appropriation, the government could not legally make these pension payments.
