Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act is about as straightforward as it gets: it authorises the Commonwealth to pull £3,500,000 (three and a half million pounds) out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund—basically the government's main bank account—to pay for invalid and old-age pensions in 1916.

The money goes into a special government savings account called the Invalid and Old-age Pensions Fund (set up under the Audit Act). Think of it as the annual budget line that ensures pensioners actually get their cheques.

Who it affects: Pensioners receiving disability or retirement payments, and the administrators of the pension system.

Why it matters: Without this legislation, the government couldn't legally spend the money to pay the pensions. It's the legal rubber stamp that keeps the social security system funded for the year.
