Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act gives the Australian government formal permission to sign and accept a 1967 Protocol (an official add-on agreement) to the International Wheat Agreement of 1962.

What this means in practice:

Australia was already part of an international wheat treaty that set rules for global wheat trade—things like price ranges, export quotas, and trade flows between major wheat-producing and consuming countries.
The original 1962 agreement was due to expire. The 1967 Protocol extended it for another period.
This Act simply says "yes, Australia can officially sign that extension." It is a procedural approval required before the government can commit Australia to the continued treaty obligations.

Who it affects: Primarily wheat exporters and the agricultural sector, as it maintains Australia's participation in international wheat trade arrangements.
