264 Inspector—investigating a complaint (1) The inspector may investigate a complaint to assess the conduct mentioned in the complaint or any other conduct relevant to the complaint. (2) If the inspector decides to investigate a complaint, the inspector must notify the commission, in writing, unless the inspector reasonably believes that giving notice of the investigation could prejudice the investigation of the complaint.
(3) The inspector has power to do anything necessary and reasonable to investigate a complaint. (4) The inspector may make guidelines about how the inspector is to handle complaints under this Act (complaint investigation guidelines). (5) The complaint investigation guidelines are a notifiable instrument.
