### 81 Offences against inquiry officers > > (1)  A person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with a requirement or direction of an inquiry officer within 14 days of receiving it commits an offence. > > > > Penalty:  Fine not exceeding 5 000 penalty units. > > > (2)  A person must not use, cause, inflict or procure any violence, punishment, damage, loss or disadvantage in relation to another person for or on account of that other person having given evidence to an inquiry officer or produced or surrendered any record, information, material or thing to an inquiry officer. > > > > Penalty:  Fine not exceeding 5 000 penalty units or imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year. > > > (3)  A person must not obstruct or hinder an inquiry officer or any person assisting an inquiry officer in the performance of a function or the exercise of a power under [section 74](#GS74@EN) . > > > > Penalty:  Fine not exceeding 5 000 penalty units.
