### 54 Offences relating to investigations
> > (1) A person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with a requirement or direction under [section 47](#GS47@EN) within 14 days of receiving it commits an offence.
> >
> > Penalty: Fine not exceeding 5 000 penalty units.

> > (2) A person must not use, cause, inflict or procure any violence, punishment, damage, loss or disadvantage to another person for or on account of that other person having given evidence to an investigator or produced or surrendered any record, information, material or thing to an investigator.

> > Penalty: Fine not exceeding 5 000 penalty units or imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.

> > (3) A person must not obstruct or hinder an investigator or any person assisting an investigator in the performance of a function or the exercise of a power under [section 47](#GS47@EN) .

> > Penalty: Fine not exceeding 2 000 penalty units.
