Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does

This instrument changes the name of a restricted military airspace zone (designated R223) from "Waler Barracks" to "Robertson Barracks". It's essentially a paperwork update to reflect a renaming of the army base below.

Key details

Location: Restricted Area R223 (the physical boundaries stay exactly the same)
Change: Only the name is updated; the lateral limits (side boundaries), vertical limits (height restrictions), and hours of operation remain unchanged
Who controls it: Department of Defence (Army) still manages the airspace
Entry rules: No aircraft can enter without permission from Defence, obtained through Air Traffic Control clearance

Why this matters

Pilots use charts (called the Designated Airspace Handbook or DAH) to identify restricted zones. This ensures the charts correctly label the restricted area above Robertson Barracks, preventing accidental entry into military airspace and keeping both civilian aircraft and defence operations safe.
