16 Definition of FIS
A service is an FIS if: (a) it is, or is sought to be, provided on a request; and (b) the requirements in section 17 are met in relation to the request; and (c) the service involves, or is to involve, a comparison that has the characteristics and purpose set out in section 18; and (d) the request and the outcome of the comparison are communicated by electronic communications relayed through the Face Matching Service Hub.
Note 1: FIS is short for Face Identification Service, a term used in the intergovernmental agreement.
Note 2: FIS is the only kind of 1:many matching service that is permitted under this Act.
