8ZWarrants may be issued by telephone or other electronic means

#### 8Z Warrants may be issued by telephone or other electronic means (1) If, because of circumstances of urgency, an authorised officer thinks it necessary to do so, the authorised officer may apply to a magistrate for a warrant under subsection 8Y(1) by telephone, telex, fax or other electronic means under this section. (2) Before applying, the authorised officer must prepare an information of a kind referred to in subsection 8Y(1) that sets out the grounds on which the issue of the warrant is being sought, but may, if it is necessary to do so, make the application before the information has been sworn. (3) If an application is made to a magistrate under this section and the magistrate, after considering the information and having received and considered such further information (if any) as the magistrate required, is satisfied that: (a) a warrant in the terms of the application should be issued urgently; or (b) the delay that would occur if an application were made in person would frustrate the effective execution of the warrant; the magistrate may complete and sign the same form of warrant that would be issued under section 8Y.
