Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This declaration removes Horticulture Innovation Australia Limited's legal status as the industry export control body (the organisation with statutory powers to regulate and control horticultural exports) effective 1 November 2015.

Who it affects:

Horticulture Innovation Australia – loses its authority to manage or control export functions for the horticulture industry
Horticultural exporters – may face changes to export approval processes if a new control body is appointed

Why it matters: This strips the company of its regulatory powers over exports, effectively ending its role as the official gatekeeper for Australian horticulture products leaving the country.
